PROJECT
OVERVIEW

Situated in the gently rolling vineyards of Cantine Romagnoli, this project reimagines the visitor experience through a series of thoughtfully designed landscape pavilions. The proposal aims to deepen the sensory and cultural connection between guests and the historic winemaking landscape of Emilia-Romagna. Rather than introducing isolated architectural elements, the project integrates each pavilion into the existing ecological, agricultural, and experiential fabric of the vineyard.

The design approach is rooted in the belief that landscapes are best understood through the body—through movement, touch, texture, sound, and the shifting qualities of light. The pavilions serve as immersive thresholds that guide visitors into this multi-sensory reading of place. Each structure responds to a specific aspect of the vineyard’s identity: its soils, its microclimates, its cycles of cultivation, and its long-established relationship between land and craft.

Four pavilion typologies are introduced across the estate, each positioned to frame a distinct facet of the landscape. Some offer elevated viewpoints over the vines and distant hills; others create intimate, shaded environments for tasting, reflection, and seasonal interpretation. Materials are chosen to echo the tactile palette of the site—timber, stone, earth, and metal—while maintaining a subtle presence within the vineyard rows.

Beyond serving as architectural landmarks, the pavilions function as educational and experiential nodes. They reveal the layers of production that shape the identity of Cantine Romagnoli: water systems, soil composition, biodiversity, climate patterns, and the human labor that animates the vineyard throughout the year. The spatial sequence formed by these structures invites visitors to slow down, observe, learn, and engage with the land through an expanded sensory awareness.

Ultimately, the project strengthens the relationship between visitors and the vineyard by transforming the landscape into a narrative experience. The pavilions act as gentle interventions that honor the heritage of Cantine Romagnoli while offering new ways to understand and appreciate the living landscape that sustains its wines.
